While it’s been over a week since Jupiter transited from Libra to Scorpio, this is still big news. Jupiter spends over a year in each sign, so its placement will impact the tone of the whole coming year. Jupiter concerns our beliefs, philosophies, and worldview. It magnifies all that it touches, showing us more clearly any problematic tendencies that we ought to address in order to take advantages of Jupiter’s gifts: opportunities, abundance, luck, and prominence. With Jupiter now in Scorpio, we are led into the watery depths of our soul, to analyze the hidden beliefs and assumptions that shape our worldview, that affect our perception, our thought, our action–in short, that create our world. We are asked to examine our deepest motives, to understand the psychology that drives us, to unearth any shame, negativity, patterns of self-sabotage. Scorpio courageously dives into the darkness in order to alchemically transmute what it finds there, so that it may rise like the Phoenix from the ashes, renewed, empowered, enlightened.
This week we have a New Moon in Libra, offering a cycle of developing relationship, seeking balance, harmony, and equanimity. No ordinary Libra New Moon though, this one opposes Uranus which challenges Libra’s quest for balance. Uranus offers surprise, sudden change, breaking away. Uranus can also gift us with insight, genius, creativity, innovation. We may be shown where we need balance in our lives. We may be offered creative new ways to find harmony and engage with others. We may be challenged to find equanimity in times of change. Continue reading “Horoscopes for the Week of October 16, 2017”
On the same day as October 5th’s Full Moon in Aries, the rulers of the lunation, Mars and Venus meet up in Virgo. This is a powerful opportunity to consider the ways in which the feminine and masculine aspects within and without do or do not get along. How can we integrate our inclinations for assertion, movement, drive, passion with those for harmony, receptivity, gentleness, and grace? Continue reading “Horoscopes for the Week of October 3, 2017”
The Autumnal Equinox occurs September 22nd this year at 4:02 p.m. Eastern Time Zone, and, in the Northern Hemisphere, marks the first day of fall. The Equinox signifies the moment the Sun crosses the Celestial Equator and there is near equal length of daytime and nighttime. It is also the exact moment in which the Sun enters the sign of Libra. In the Southern Hemisphere, it is exactly opposite, and this date and time signify the Vernal Equinox, and consequently, the first day of spring.
Even though the Sun’s transit through Virgo is nearly at an end, Tuesday night (Wednesday morning)’s New Moon in Virgo nevertheless inaugurates another month of Virgo themes in your Virgo house. The New Moon is nearly exactly opposite from Chiron, the wounded healer. Our wounds may be activated, but for the purpose of healing. If possible, schedule light this week, to make time to process what arises.
All summer a grand fire trine with Saturn, Uranus, and the North Node has been urging us toward inspired, long term plans and creative projects. This week, Venus activates this fire trine, first trining Saturn and then Uranus. Venus brings harmony and connections. Perhaps this is the week when you connect with the people who will help you achieve your big dreams. Mercury conjuncts Mars on the 16th brings in another piece of the eclipse story and offers forward movement on whatever Mercury retrograde has us ruminating on.
Set your intention, Prophetess, for these are the days of the primal feminine dark when the holy veil is so thin you can hear your grandmother’s ghost shouting for you to listen and listen closely. The waning Harvest Moon is a fertile time for ancestral communion and spirit guide work; all of nature is calling you into the shadowy mists and bidding you become the hooded wolf-woman of your dreams, begging you to resurrect the parts of the ethereal, omniscient feminine that have been objectified and oppressed. Your intuition is heightened, and you embody the Crone-Priestess archetype in your magick, your divination, and your so valuable, so sacred work. Know that your guides are not tools to be used, nor is their advice to be blindly followed without your keen discernment. Respect these wise ones who have chosen to hold you with their spectral hands while you walk this soul’s path in this body, show them that you hear them, and hone one of the deepest and most potent forms of your Craft under Autumn’s Witching Moons.
We have a beautiful Full Moon in Pisces this week, exactly conjunct to Neptune which doubles the Piscean flavour: this is creative, romantic, dreamy, and mystical. Make sure you take some time this week to slow down and enjoy these sweet Piscean vibes. The Full Moon is inconjunct Venus in Leo, which asks for a minor adjustment in our relationships or financial situation, or perhaps our relationships to pleasure. Even amidst the romance and dreaminess, seek a more realistic understanding of the situation. Mercury stations direct this week, so stay tuned for insight around the meaning of this past few weeks of Mercury retrograde.
As the eclipse energy continues to ripple through the collective, I hope you continue to receive insight around your purpose, your big dreams, your long term plans. The eclipse story isn’t over yet. While the Sun has moved on into Virgo, Mars and Mercury make a conjunction at the end of this week (September 3rd) right on the eclipse degree, reactivating the eclipse themes. And with Mercury still retrograde, we don’t yet have all the information. Mars conjunct Mercury on this degree speaks to courageously, boldly, going after your biggest dreams, speaking your truth, and sharing your vision with others, even as the details are still falling into place.
Wow, what a momentous week! Your horoscopes this week cover how this important total solar eclipse is likely to affect you. The light of the sun is blocked at a solar eclipse, offering an opportunity to sever the flow of energy that has fed patterns and relationships that no longer align with our destiny. The eclipse is an opportunity to reset. To tie the cords in a different place. To feed energy into new patterns that we choose with intention. Keep in mind that as the sun is blocked and mercury is retrograde, it’s likely that we don’t yet have all the information. If possible, stay flexible in your plans until mid-September. Keep in mind also, that in times of change, there is necessarily disorder, even chaos, in order to allow a new order to emerge. Let chaos be an opportunity to envision the future you desire.
