In Catholicism and Christian mysticism, there is a term known as ‘the dark night of the soul.’ The Catholic context refers to a spiritual crisis encountered on one’s journey to a union with God, while the latter is symbolic of the mystery and unpredictability of the journey itself, as illustrated in the 16th century poem by Spanish mystic St. John of the Cross.
Inhale. Feel it fill you. Spirit charges every part of you. It’s intoxicating. You are a being of light. You stand between the worlds; a being of magick. Stand strong. You are whole. You are loved. Now, with your heart full and open speak words that come from your soul. Let them dance across your lips with ease, yet full of power. The air that we breathe in, the air we exhale, the air we form into speech is as much Spirit as anything else. It’s a powerful tool for it is pure element. It is all around us and within. Always. It is one of our very first experiences as we leave the womb. It carries us from this world to the next as we make our last exhale. This breath carries our soul. It is scientific fact that at the last exhale of our life, the physical body loses weight.
Everything in this world is magic, except to the magician.” – Dr. Ford (Anthony Hopkins) in Westworld
Our awareness of consciousness, energy, connection and the forces of nature is increasing through a combination of technology, science and ancestral reminders from life on our planet, and that wonderful source called Anima Mundi, or God, or Source, or any special name you want to give it. As an avid student of the universe, I deeply appreciate the amount of opportunities available out there to experience for my growth:
Marcus woke in the morning, feeling hungry, but not of the edible type. His stomach did not growl, his senses did. He didn’t feel fatigued but energized throughout the limbs. He didn’t want food but desired activity, intimacy, physicality, sensuality. Then his fluid limbs, feeling fluid and free and aroused and potent for the moment, suddenly drew back, tensed, restricted, suppressed. He felt like a rope just wrapped around him, tying him down, making his physique feel like a heavyweight on the bed.
