Horoscopes for the Week of October 16, 2017

This week we have a New Moon in Libra, offering a cycle of developing relationship, seeking balance, harmony, and equanimity.  No ordinary Libra New Moon though, this one opposes Uranus which challenges Libra’s quest for balance. Uranus offers surprise, sudden change, breaking away. Uranus can also gift us with insight, genius, creativity, innovation. We may be shown where we need balance in our lives. We may be offered creative new ways to find harmony and engage with others. We may be challenged to find equanimity in times of change. Continue reading “Horoscopes for the Week of October 16, 2017”

Blood Moon Vows: A Witch’s Unmasking Ritual

Open your palms, look moonward, and breathe in the raw, red musk of dying leaves, smoking pine wood, and ever-cool, so potent spectral mists. Know that this is what the primal feminine smells like. Embody the long-nailed and black-mirror-eyed demoness you were taught to fear during childhood. These are the days of the Great Purge, when the Witch is tasked to dig up her cobwebbed secrets and put them on unapologetic display, to befriend the very shadows that make her bones quake, to strip off and burn every mask she has ever worn, and to do it all in front of her ancestors’ ghosts as they encircle and honor the brave-hearted and strong-willed Priestess she has become. Before Salem: The Burning Times and a Call to all Self-Proclaimed Witches

When I was fifteen I spent a few weeks out of the spring semester as an exchange student in Cologne, Germany. Our many guided outings took us to cathedrals and archaeological sites, as well as former palaces and fortresses. Among those destinations was a medieval open-air tower connected to one of the state behemoths. Continue reading “Before Salem: The Burning Times and a Call to all Self-Proclaimed Witches”

Horoscopes for the Week of October 3, 2017

On the same day as October 5th’s Full Moon in Aries, the rulers of the lunation, Mars and Venus meet up in Virgo. This is a powerful opportunity to consider the ways in which the feminine and masculine aspects within and without do or do not get along. How can we integrate our inclinations for assertion, movement, drive, passion with those for harmony, receptivity, gentleness, and grace? The Autumnal Equinox

The Autumnal Equinox occurs September 22nd this year at 4:02 p.m. Eastern Time Zone, and, in the Northern Hemisphere, marks the first day of fall. The Equinox signifies the moment the Sun crosses the Celestial Equator and there is near equal length of daytime and nighttime. It is also the exact moment in which the Sun enters the sign of Libra. In the Southern Hemisphere, it is exactly opposite, and this date and time signify the Vernal Equinox, and consequently, the first day of spring.

Horoscopes for the week of Sept 18th 2017

Even though the Sun’s transit through Virgo is nearly at an end, Tuesday night (Wednesday morning)’s New Moon in Virgo nevertheless inaugurates another month of Virgo themes in your Virgo house. The New Moon is nearly exactly opposite from Chiron, the wounded healer. Our wounds may be activated, but for the purpose of healing. If possible, schedule light this week, to make time to process what arises.

Horoscopes for the Week of Sept. 11, 2017

All summer a grand fire trine with Saturn, Uranus, and the North Node has been urging us toward inspired, long term plans and creative projects. This week, Venus activates this fire trine, first trining Saturn and then Uranus. Venus brings harmony and connections. Perhaps this is the week when you connect with the people who will help you achieve your big dreams. Mercury conjuncts Mars on the 16th brings in another piece of the eclipse story and offers forward movement on whatever Mercury retrograde has us ruminating on.

Spirit-Scapes and the Dark Harvest Moon: A Beginner’s Guide to Ancestral Communion in Autumn

Set your intention, Prophetess, for these are the days of the primal feminine dark when the holy veil is so thin you can hear your grandmother’s ghost shouting for you to listen and listen closely. The waning Harvest Moon is a fertile time for ancestral communion and spirit guide work; all of nature is calling you into the shadowy mists and bidding you become the hooded wolf-woman of your dreams, begging you to resurrect the parts of the ethereal, omniscient feminine that have been objectified and oppressed. Your intuition is heightened, and you embody the Crone-Priestess archetype in your magick, your divination, and your so valuable, so sacred work. Know that your guides are not tools to be used, nor is their advice to be blindly followed without your keen discernment. Respect these wise ones who have chosen to hold you with their spectral hands while you walk this soul’s path in this body, show them that you hear them, and hone one of the deepest and most potent forms of your Craft under Autumn’s Witching Moons.

Horoscopes for the week of Sept 4 2017

We have a beautiful Full Moon in Pisces this week, exactly conjunct to Neptune which doubles the Piscean flavour: this is creative, romantic, dreamy, and mystical. Make sure you take some time this week to slow down and enjoy these sweet Piscean vibes. The Full Moon is inconjunct Venus in Leo, which asks for a minor adjustment in our relationships or financial situation, or perhaps our relationships to pleasure. Even amidst the romance and dreaminess, seek a more realistic understanding of the situation. Mercury stations direct this week, so stay tuned for insight around the meaning of this past few weeks of Mercury retrograde.

Clearing with the Elements

I love everything about smudging, from choosing what plant I’ll use to lighting the bundle, to experiencing the smoke medicine. Will I use the soft vanilla of Sweetgrass, or the earthiness of Palo Santo? Each wood, plant or resin burns differently, cleanses differently–even the way the smoke behaves as it hangs in the air or swirls in the space is enchanting and specific to its particular owner.
